Mary Jean Shoup

Mary Jean Shoup, 64, of LaBelle, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2025. She was born on April 1, 1961, in Cuba, New York, and later made LaBelle her home, where she surrounded herself with the family she loved so deeply.

Mary leaves behind her partner, Mark Welker, and her six children: David Drabant, Michael Drabant, Misty Tapia, Melissa Welker, Dianna Welker, and Chelsea Welker, all of whom she cherished with her whole heart. She was also a devoted grandmother to eleven grandchildren, who were truly her entire world.

Mary was fearless. She loved fiercely, lived with strength, and faced every challenge with the spirit of a fighter. Her family was the center of her life, and she poured her heart into everyone she loved. Her passing is profoundly heartbreaking for all who knew her, and the suddenness of her loss leaves an ache beyond words.

In her free time, Mary cared for every critter that found its way to her home, giving each one the same tenderness she gave to the people she loved. She adored star-filled nights and often said that when she passed, she would be one of the brightest stars in the sky. So when you see that bright star, take a moment and say hello.

She will be remembered for her courage, her unconditional love, and the way she made life brighter with her presence.
