Barbara Elise Rumsey received her Heavenly wings December 31, 2021.

Elise-as she was known to all until the age of 65 when social security made her use Barbara, was born August 8, 1942 in Illinois, but only lived a few months there before moving to the Ithaca, New York area. Elise had different occupations through the years from being the secretary of one of the deans at Cornell University to office work and administrator assistance for a large doctor's office in Ocala, FL.

Elise loved the outdoors, working in the vegetable garden, flower beds or helping her husband Russell by pulling trees to clear property. When younger and living in the countryside in New York they had a farm, and she was right there helping. She was married to her husband Russell over 50 years until his passing and enjoyed riding her motorcycle, she had her own and later years she rode behind Russell and enjoyed the feeling of freedom. She was a hard worker in everything she did.  She didn't believe in doing anything halfway- -it was 110% or more. She struggled with horrible arthritis and medical issues throughout her life, but she didn't stop—much to her doctor and family's opposition 😊.  She will be remembered for many things, mostly helping others in any way possible. From making sure everyone at work and the neighborhood kids had an Easter Basket, Halloween treats and Christmas bread for coworkers and friends. Even after breaking her back and placed in a wheelchair she would push other folks' wheelchairs to help them get around or put a sweater on or give a blanket she had on herself so they would not be cold.

She was always there for her children never left them wanting for anything, she sacrificed, even working a second job to be sure they received everything that was best and needed by them. Even through her Alzheimer's she showed loved to her nurses and family.

She is survived by her daughter Barb Brister (Joseph), son John Rumsey (Kim) grandchildren: Travis Baker, Jared Rumsey (Holly) Sierra Brister (Pat Nowlin) and Nickolas Rumsey, 1 great grandchild Brody Nowlin along with sister and brother-in-laws. She was preceded by her husband Russell Rumsey, daughter Debbie Baker and son-in-law Mike Baker. Services are private.
