Mrs. McClellan was born in Sampson County, North Carolina, the oldest of 14 children to father William Ammons and mother Mildred Simmons Ammons.

Carthena worked for many years at the Immokalee High School as the cafeteria cook. She was a member of the Immokalee First Seminole Baptist Church in Immokalee, where she was loved immensely! The people of the congregation would stand in line to talk with her, and she loved all people.

She will be remembered for many things, including her love of Southern Gospel songs, singing in her church, and reading her Bible which she did everyday.  Her loving smile and ability to leave permanent footprints in the hearts of the people she loved will never be forgotton.

She never ended a phone conversation with her children without
a lways telling them "I love my children so much, and am so very thankful for them."

Mrs. McClellan  leaves behind to mourn her loss two daughters; Sandra Miller (Francis) and Judith Lacks (Richard), son Wilford Brewington( Mary), 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She also leaves 1 brother and 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Elizabeth Jacobs (Elton) and Chris Smiling (Willie A).

There will be a Viewing at 11:00 am at the Immokalee First Seminole Baptist Church, Saturday January 19, 2013.  The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Josh Leadingfox officiating. Cremation was requested.
