Elaine Johnson Aguilar's Obituary
Mrs. Elaine Johnson Aguilar 71, was called to Heaven after a long and valiant battle against illnesses.
Mrs. Aguilar was born on The Big Cypress Reservation to mother Lucy Johns August 16, 1945. She met her devoted husband Pedro in 1964, in 1965 he "stole" her away and they lived under "common law" together for 17 years. They then married September 5, 1980.
Miss Elaine started her work with the Seminole people as a CHR (Community Health Representative) then she worked at the Seminole Indian Reservation as the Immokalee manager for many years. The love she had for the Seminole People inspired her to work all her adult life in helping them have a better life. She was the backbone, the heart and soul for the Seminole people in achieving the building of many of todays institutions on the Immokalee Reservation, including: the Immokalee First Seminole Baptist Church, the community center, the administration building, the preschool and clinic. She served on the board as a representative for the local reservation, and spearheaded many programs.
She was famous for her elaborate and finely made patchwork she did for the Seminole people, made baskets and Seminole purses. She started as a child helping her mother make dolls including the dolls clothing. Her love of Jesus help set an example for her family and all who knew her, that love for the Lord will help you love others and achieve accomplishments that make a huge impact in all parts of your life.
Elaine was very special and will be greatly missed by all who had the great opportunity of knowing her. She is survived by her beloved husband: Pedro Aguilar, Sr., 2 daughters: Michelle Ford and Sheila Aguilar ( Jose Solano, Jr), 2 sons: Pedro Aguilar, Jr. (Vanessa ), and Edward Aguilar (Cindy). Grandchildren: Chelsey Ford, Jessica and Rosalinda Lopez, Troy Cantu, Jose Solano, Amaya Solano and Xzavier Solano, Alexis, Ethan and Jack Aguilar, Nehimiah, Zephaiah and Ezeckiel Roberts, Cartaya and Caniah Billie, Edward Aguilar, Jr., Spencer and Jessica Aguilar. Three great grandchildren: Ayden, Shaley and Izayah Aguilar, sister: Jennie Martinez and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother: Lucy Johns, daughters: Karen Cypress and Cathy Aguilar, son: Spencer Johnson and brother: Harry Clay.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers for all the great care and respect you showed Miss Elaine and the family over the last 4 years: Tanya Willoughby, Jan Gunn,Kellye Parson, Sherrie Sirmans, Melissa Milian, Angelica Gonzalez and Cari Jo Stockwell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Immokalee First Seminole Baptist Church. The funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Burial will follow at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens, Immokalee, FL.
