Elena Mejia de Cardenas of Immokalee was called to Heaven on June 24, 2022. She was 77 years old.

Elena was born in Matamoros, Mexico to father Rafael Mejia and mother Maria G. Perez on October 1, 1944. She lived for many many years in Immokalee where she raised her family.  She recently went to live with her daughter in Fort Myers due to her illness.  She loved being with her large family whenever possible. She led by example--she like everything organized and in its place and always everything had to be clean. She enjoyed dancing and enjoying life.

She leaves to carry on her memories, her husband Elias Cardenas, Sr., and 11 children: Guadalupe Turrubiatez, Adela Garza, Elias Cardenas, Jr., Yolanda Rodriguez, Gertrudis Gara, Maria Hernandez, Maria L. Moreno, Rosavra Cardenas, Abraham Cardenas, Jorge Cardenas and Jesus Cardenas, 37 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren along with daughter and sons-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 29, 2022 from 6:00-7:45 pm at Brister Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will be the final disposition.
