Emma Lee Dupree's Obituary
Emma Lee Dupree 89 years old of Immokalee, was called home to Heaven September 18, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Dupree was born in Immokalee to father James Rutledge and mother Alice Douglas Rutledge. She met the love of her life, Gee Dupree and enjoyed a long marriage until his passing in 2001.
Emma is known for many great things; in her younger years she went hunting with family and friends. She was known as a great cook. Everyone agrees that they never had anything other then a great meal. She put her love into everything she made. Her homemade buttermilk biscuits, coconut cake and her potato salad are just a few great items loved by all. Emma and her husband were Pioneers of Immokalee, they are on the Pioneer Registry as being the second pioneer family to help build Immokalee. She was a selfless woman, she always put others first. Emma was a great mother, grandmother and mother-in-law and her love and great upbringing she used to raise her children are reflected in the wonderful children she has.
She is survived by four sons: Harvey Dupree (Edith Ann), Bob Dupree, Alvin Dupree (Peggy), George Dupree (Lynn), three daughters: Martha Williams (Donald), Evelyn McClenithan and Frances Graham (Gene), Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Her sister Geneva Niecmie passed just 12 hours after Emma which was shock for the family. She was preceded in death by her husband Gee Dupree 12-19-2001 and two daughters; Violet and Mildred.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Brister Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-8:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at The Baptist Cemetery beginning at 10:00 am.
