Floyd Crews' Obituary
Floyd Crews, 72 years young of Immokalee, FL was called to Heaven June 29, 2017.
Mr. Crews was born in Orlando, FL to father Zach Floyd Crews, Sr. and mother Catherine Elizabeth Hopkins February 5, 1945. Floyd was a direct descendent of Dempsey Dubois Crews, Sr., one of the first Florida Pioneers.
He earned his undergraduate degree in 1969 at the University of Florida and his Master's degree at Florida International University. He married his beloved wife, Judy Dominy Crews, in Orlando on August 29, 1969. Before Floyd opened his business, S.W. Florida Service & Supply in Immokalee, FL, he was a teacher for 12 years at Immokalee High School where he taught Vocational Agriculture.
He was on various committees through the years including the most recent: The Housing Authority, CRA, Airport Authority and a director of the Collier County Farm Bureau. He was a huge fan and booster member for The Florida Gators, basically never missing a game. He also enjoyed growing beautiful orchids. Floyd was at ease with everyone in all situations; and a very articulate man who will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Judy Crews, two daughters: Becki Crews (Rob Massey II), and Sonja Crews Crawford (Donnie), two grandsons: Blake and Bryson Crawford, one sister: Catherine Crews Moon, niece: Merry Moon Sutton, nephew: Stephen Douglas Moon, Jr. (Tricia) along with one great nephew Scott Sutton and one great niece Jenna Moon.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests any donation to be made in Floyd's name to the Florida Methodist Children's Home, Enterprise FL or to any charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 5, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, corner of 9 th Street and Roberts Drive, Immokalee. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando starting at 2:00 p.m.
