Immokalee, Florida was called to Heaven May 26, 2015.
Mr. Medina was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to father Gabino Medina, Sr. and mother Aurelia (Weyin) Vasquez on May 21, 1960.
At the age of 2, his parents moved to Philadelphia where he grew up unto the age of 13. He then moved back to Fajardo and met his future bride Theresa Chazulle. Since he was 13 and she was just 11 years old, they have been together. They were married November 9, 1979 in Puerto Rico. He then enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed mostly in Massachusetts. Gabino received a medal in Sharpshooting the M-16 Rifle and a medal for marksman in hand grenades. In recent years, he was self employed doing property management. Gabino enjoyed fishing, working on cars, planting and caring for fruits and vegetables, any kind of gardening. He also liked to cook for his family. He was the first member contacted and the first one to arrive for any and every family event, family concern or anything that was important to any family matter.
He will also be remembered for being a true romantic: on their 36th year anniversary, when his wife Theresa got home, she found rose petals leading from the driveway into and thru the house. Gabino had purchased 360 roses and used the petals from them to showcase his love. Gabino always was a great caretaker. When Theresa was pregnant and have cravings for cake--he made sure she got cake--even if it meant going to strangers. He will also be remembered for loving his family, for always being there for his children, he would anything and everything he could for them.
He loved his children and grandchildren dearly, "a rose from the concrete, a lion heart and second to none."
Gabino is survived by his beloved wife Theresa Australia Medina, five
children: Alexandra Marie Medina (Ty Parker), Gabino Medino III (Jennifer Flete), Alexander Medina (Julie Nguyen), Nina Maria Medina (Daniel Nannola) and Michael Gabriel Medina, five grandchildren, along with four siblings: Carmen "Mita" Flores, Nancy Calderon, Maria "Chary" Reyes, Jorge "Nicky" Ojeda with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 29, 2015 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardes.
