Harley Burton Thomas' Obituary
Harley Burton Thomas 71 of Palmdale and Immokalee, passed away at his home September 23, 2017.
Mr. Thomas was born in Fort Myers, FL to father Joseph Rollin Thomas and mother Annis E. Whidden Thomas. He grew up in Immokalee where he played both basketball and football. He was named the most valuable player 1964-1965 school year at Immokalee High School.
Harley served in the Army beginning February 1966, where he was a Combat Engineer and received the Active Duty Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Zone for over 1 year Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Sharpshooter Medal, and Marksman for the M 14 Medal.
After being honorably discharged February 1972 he began his career as a cattle rancher in and around Immokalee. He named his ranch: H. B. T. Ranch. He will be fondly remembered for many things, including loving George Jones music, drinking beer and watching old western movies.
He survivors include his daughter: Angela L. Thomas and two grandchildren, his ex-wife who was also his loving companion and took care of him for many of the last years; Bev Thomas.
The Graveside Funeral will be held at the Baptist Cemetery, Immokalee on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
