STUART, JOHN CARMEN, JR, age 76. Beloved husband, for 53 years, of Maryann "Mindy" (nee Petrasek); Loving father of Stephanie Stuart and Jacqueline Van Meter. Devoted "PAPA" of Gary Elsbury, Jr., Alexandra Elsbury, and Evangeline and Gabrielle Van Meter; Cherished son of the late John C., Sr. and Jennie (nee Soukup) Stuart, and son-in-law of the late Charles and Amelia (nee Perry) Petrasek. Treasured brother of Judith Cosenza (husband Armand, deceased), Linda Loeser (husband Randolph, deceased), Victor (deceased), Gregory (wife Erika), Deborah Chlopecki (husband Richard), Robert (wife Lynda), and Michael (wife Lora), and brother-in-law to the late David and Margie Petrasek and the late Jerry and Joan Szabo. Dear nephew of Charles Stuart and Dee Holmquist (nee Soukup). Cousin to many, uncle to many, and friend of many. U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.

John was born in Cleveland, OH on January 5, 1946 and passed away at his home surrounded by family July 1, 2022 after a heroic battle with bladder and liver cancer.

He was working from his earliest days, laying carpeting for side jobs, playing drums in a polka band, whilst raising two daughters. He attended the University of Dayton and went on to have a successful career in computer programming, carrying leadership roles and making life-long friends at Medical Mutual of Ohio, from where he retired in 2014.

He was known by many as the Miracleman because of his continuous battles with cancer for over four decades, never giving up fighting for another day. John loved his family and was the embodiment of a life filled with faith in God­--knowing his suffering was never in vain. John loved to serve people from his home, his work family, church council, and to countless charitable organizations of his time and talents. Most recently, John was a member of the Ave Maria Church in his community in Ave Maria, Florida and was knighted by the Knights of Columbus. He hung flag poles in his community for Veterans these last several years and was a consummate volunteer for his neighborhood fun committee, played on the bocce ball league, and sang in "The Best of Times" choir.

One of John's favorite past times was fishing off his boat and working on his beloved cottage in Chautauqua Lake, NY. He spent countless summers working in the yard, fixing everything that broke, and on occasion, would stop to have a cold beer, smell the roses, and enjoy a moment to share a good joke. He searched for night crawlers in the early morning, made coffee for his wife, was a wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time with his Pomeranians. His favorite holiday by far was Christmas; He planned all year long to make the holidays so special for his grandchildren, and he decorated every inch of their home to light up, sparkle, and make noise. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and loved watching and cheering for his Browns, Indians, and Cavs.

Mass of Christian Funeral will be celebrated Thursday, July 14, at Ave Maria Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and give glory to God for his life--a luncheon reception to follow. The family is truly grateful for all your love, prayers, and friendship.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute at a Celebration of life for John in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 6 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish (Formerly St. Greg's) 1545 S. Green Rd, South Euclid, OH 44121.
