Juana "Juanita" Martinez, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, in her Immokalee home with her family by her side.

Juana was born on April 6, 1930 in Mante, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Ricardo de Mendieta and Magdelena Rodriguez.

She was married to Miguel Martinez for nearly 50 years until his passing in 2000. They were blessed with 9 children, 20 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, and 23 great great- grandchildren.

She is survived by her 6 children: Maria Guadalupe Martinez (Matias Garcia), Ricardo Martinez (Lily Martinez), Raul Martinez Sr., Jose Luis Martinez (Frances Martinez), Ruben Martinez, and Adan Martinez. She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 children: Miguel Martinez Jr., Oscar Martinez, Eva Martinez, and 1 grandson: Matias Garcia Jr.

Juana will be most remembered for her love of gardening and cooking for her family. Her favorite was cooking caldo de res for her children, her favorite color was pink and she loved flowers and working in her garden especially her mango and avocado trees.

Viewing services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Brister Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-7:45 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens, Immokalee, FL.
