Judy Roebuck was called to Heaven  in the early hours of  January 22, 2012 with her loved ones surrounding her.She was born in St. Louis, Missouri to father Walter Greer and mother Sylvia Story Greerand. Judy was the youngest of 6 children.Judy met her future husband Ted when they were 15 years old. They were married in Immokalee over 50 years ago.





A Note from Ted

Family, Friends, Church Family and the great Immokalee kids we have taught, My sweetheart of 50 years separated from her earthly body and her spirit continued its journey this morning at 4 am. She was a great Christian, wife, mother and community member. She touched many lives in her 13 years as a Headstart Teacher, 14 years as a florist, 8 years as a band booster riding the quiet bus( #2-percussion and color guard-LOL). She and I worked with the Davenports for many years when our kids were young as Youth Counselors. She and Mr. Davenport worked for many years with the younger children on Sunday evenings. She never was hateful or intentionally hurt anyone. During her 29 months of chemo and cancer she never complained. She developed a deep friendship with Minnie Simpson-Manzano and they volunteered and ran a clothes closet for our church serving many families over the years in Immokalee. Rudy Monzano and I were band booster together, became very close friends and I tried my best to teach him how to fish!! I thank God she lived long enough to see our daughter Amanda wed to a good man, graduate from college and get settled . She lived to see our son settle down, wed a good woman, have a family and give us a beautiful grandaughter, Ella Angel. I was blessed to be able to retire and be with her. We were able to spend some quality time together and recently watch our St Louis Cardinals win the World Series, we suffered through the Dolphins season together and I suffered through untold sessions of Divorce Court and Judge Joe Brown.We rejoiced with the Seminoles and our own Immokalee Indians this year. She was a very private, spiritual, quiet and courageous person. She preferred formal and reverent services. She was just naturally good unlike myself that has to work at it. I will miss her every day-there is a rip in my heart but I know we will meet again!!!---I especially want to thank the kids of Immokalee-especially you all at the high school as I kept her up on how you all were doing as I kept you informed as to how she was doing-I appreciate you being in the struggle with us. Thank you church family and friends-you kept us lifted up with your prayers, cards, calls and visits, especially those who were there toward the very end. Beside Rudy and Minnie I would like to especially thank my brothers, Manny Touron-my way older brother, Ski Olesky--AKA Santa Claus, Ms Florence Jelks-our black grandma and my mentor and friend : Robert and Lynette Hernandez,Cecil and Rita Howell who never lost hope.--and all the B Hernandez-too numerous to mention. (LOL)--and Amanda's best friend, Iris Hernandez. Judy's body will be cremated soon and her spirit will join all our family and friends---and she will be waiting for me. Please forgive any of my above mistakes or omissions-I'm tired!! Ladies, get your checkups, there is a test, CA 125 that can detect cancer, I do not know why it is not a regular part of physical exams, am unsure of the cost but it can't be more than 100 bucks or so. And lastly, ok, ok, I am about finished-please, don't let the sun set on your anger with another person, especially a family or loved one-you never know as your life can change in a heartbeat and there may not be time to say I love you. I took the best care I could of Judy (she gave me an A :) and I have no regrets in terms of our relationships. Thank you Jesus. We are planning Visitation and Memorial Services for the near future--1-2 weeks or so. Peace and love to all----GO INDIANS!!!

Miss Judy worked for 13 years as a teacher for Head Start, then  used her wonderful talent to become an amazing florist before retiring. She was a long standing member of First United Methodist Church in Immokalee and loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.  She was so very grateful that she was able to see her son and daughter marry, and have time with her granddaughter.Survivors include her husband Ted Roebuck, son Josh Roebuck  (Tonya) daughter Amanda Paul  (Matt) and granddaughter Ella Roebuck along with all the friends that will remember her loving smile and ability to leave  permanent footprints in the hearts of the people she loved.  She was preceded in death by her parents and all six of her siblings.

There will be an informal gathering of memories Saturday February 4, 2012, 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church, Immokalee, Florida.  A Celebration of Judy's life will begin at 11:00 am.  In-lieu-of flowers the family has requested a memorial donation be made in Judy's  name to Avow Hospice, Naples, FL, or The American Cancer Society, or to Immokalee High School Scholarship Fund.
