Manuel Avalos, Sr., 88 of Immokalee left these earthly bounds and was lifted to Heaven December 25, 2018.

Everyone called him "Immokalee", he worked in the agriculture fields, mostly picking watermelons--however he enjoyed the field work and it was more of a hobby than work to him. He was born to father Juan Avalos and mother Maria Leal Avalos in Mexico June 10, 1930 and had 7 siblings. When he was younger, before coming to the United States, he played in a band. He continued to play and enjoy his harmonica until recently.  Manuel was a devoted Catholic who would light his candles daily and went to Mass until he became too ill. He loved being with his family, church family and friends.

Immokalee is survived by 5 children: Manuel Avalos Jr., Robert Avalos, Daniel Avalos, Ruben Avalos and Maria San Juana Avalos, 13 Grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia Avalos in 2007 and son: Romero Avalos.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Brister Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens.
