Pedro Gamez, Sr. of Immokalee, was called to Heaven June 2 2012.

Mr. Gamez was born in Mexico to father Macario Gamez and mother Nicholasa Reyes Gamez. He met and then married his beloved wife Rita in Mexico in 1939 and enjoyed being married for 63 years until her death in November 2002.

He will be remembered for many things, including enjoying Mexican County Music, playing bingo and the claim that "he never got a ticket" before telling you that he also never learned to drive..  He was an "old school" believer--early up,  hard working and early to bed.  Pedro enjoyed dressing up when going out: western style shirt, belt, boots and only clean shaven.  He mainly enjoyed being with his large family.

Mr. Gamez is survied by eight sons: Faustino, Humberto, Jose Luis, Pedro Jr. (Ana), Oscar (Paulina) Angel Luis (Kelli), Daniel and Natividad (Maria).  Four daughter: Maria Gomez (Armando), Irma Romero (Jorge), Alicia Gamez (Lupe) and Grace Hudson (Bobbie).  Fifty grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, and  one sister: Delores Ramirez.  He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Gamez,  two sons: Juan and Fernando Gamez, and one daughter: Julia Gallegos.

There will be a visitation Monday, June 4, 2012 from 4:30-6:30 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  A Funeral Mass will be held also at the church on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow at Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens.
