We are saddened to announce that Richard A. LaCount passed away peacefully in Fairbanks, Alaska on February 4, 2022. He was 56 years.

He was born in Naples, Florida to parents Roland and Dorothy LaCount. After attending Immokalee High School he entered into Active Duty in the United States Air Force and proudly served this Nation for 20 years.  During that time, he earned numerous medals, badges, citations and ribbons including: Air Force Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC) medal that hangs with a ribbon that is the military decoration for valor & distinguished service. The Noncommissioned officer Leadership Course with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster & ribbons. The Service Medal, Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with OLC, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 decorations for valor, wounds and distinguished service, Good Conduct Medal with 5 OLC medal and ribbons. He left Active Duty in 2004 in Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska and enjoyed the area so much he lived in the North Pole. until his passing.

He was a gentleman, even before the military he was known as a pleasant and kind man. He enjoyed being a "gamer" and loved his dogs. He was truly loved and will be missed by family and friends from his youth as well as the men he served with and friends he had in Alaska. He leaves behind his beloved son Joey Taylor along with extended family and friends.

There will be a Graveside Service at The Baptist Cemetery on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am, where he will then be buried next to his mother Dorothy LaCount (2001).
