Santiago Salinas 71 of Immokalee and Texas, passed away February 18, 2012 with his family surrounding him.

Mr. Salinas was born in San Perlitas, Texas, June 15, 1940 to father Jose Salinas and mother Candida Garcia Salinas. He spent 4 years serving in the United Stated Army. He then spent most of his working years in agriculture farming.

Santiago had moved from Immokalee and lived in Texas with his wife Ofelia Salinas-who just passed away December 31, 2011.

His family and friends will have many memories of him, for many things, including his love of music by Hank Williams, Sr., and the color black.

Mr. Salinas is survived by nine (9) children; Santiago Salinas Jr., of Palmetto, Juan Salinas of Palmetto, Melba Gutierrez of Immokalee, Isabel Reyna of Immokalee, George Salinas of Sugarhill, GA, Ricky Salinas of Immokalee, Sally Cortinas of Brownsville, TX, Laura Gonzalez of Immokalee and Anthony Salivas. Twenty-seven (27) grandchildren and thirty-four (34) great grandchildren, three (3) brothers and one (1) sister. He was preceded in death by his wife Ofelia Salinas.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at Brister Funeral Home, 6-8 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2012 beginning at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
