Shirley M. Brown's Obituary
Shirley M. Brown passed away September 7, 2016,
1 day before
turning 84 years old.
Mrs. Brown was born in Ft. Myers to father John Henry Chaney and mother Catherine Brown. She met and married her husband Percy Brown and they had many wonderful years before his passing in 1996.
Ms. Shirley and her husband worked hard on their family farm. She made sure the cowboys always had great food to eat after a hard day of work, everyday was like "Sunday dinner". As she got older she continued to cook and did canning for family and friends because she loved to cook and bake, it was not a job to her. Some of her famous foods were her yeast rolls, apple cake, fried chicken and roast beef.
She traveled the world with her husband and children, from Hong Kong to the Islands. They wanted to know how other cultures worked and enjoyed the people they came in contact with. Shirley was blessed with an amazing memory, she could tell you what happened many years ago on a particular day and had great stories to tell of each of the adventures she had.
Ms. Shirley is survived by her daughters: Kathryn Brown-Rowe, Pam Brown (Clayton Walker), three grandchildren; Lance Rowe, Arica Rowe-Rodgers and Lucas Conran along with nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Percy Brown (1996) and brother Jamie.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at First United Methodist Church beginning at 10:00 am. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be private at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
